Ugh - what a frustrating book. I'm not sure when I last felt this sorry for a protagonist. His behaviour (which is clearly driven by internal trauma and a wish to protect himself) is treated like the most outrageous thing in the world, laughed at, belittled - it makes me angry.
Meanwhile, the objectively most annoying person in the entire book is treated like she can do no wrong, even when her drama hurts others.
