Just finished Hill of Dreams for the first time and I'm feeling as if a great weight was lifted from me. It's a very tedious novel with some amazing prose and imagery, but it's bogged down by its nebulous plot, its repetitiveness, and its dreamy (un)reality with which I couldn't resonate. A shame, because in the beginning there are some lovely nature descriptions, as well as some amazing passages throughout.
