This won the Goncourt prize? To me, it will join my I-wonder-what-all-the-hype-is-about bookshelf. Instead of the Italian saga I was promised (I hoped in the style of the My Brilliant Friend series), I was presented with a succession of scenes (mostly clichés) with no real plot and even less characterization.
It was quite readable and generally well written but I was indifferent most of the time. Don't bother!
