I’m giving this book a little longer, but I’m mildly annoyed that Kiva has some weird loyalty to her family’s cause after their treatment of her. I don’t really buy her point of view, and it makes her into a liar and unlikeable. I’m beginning to skim, so we’ll see if it gets better. I really hope the entire book is not just her feeling conflicted, which would be really repetitive and boring.

Over halfway done, and Kiva is a straight up liar, not to mention <spoiler> she drugged Cal for her own selfish purposes</spoiler>. Am I supposed to like her on any level? She’s just awful to people that are so kind to her. Her desire for revenge makes zero sense, and she’s just mean. I can’t root for her or care about her perspective at all.
