I don't really get the point of her hiding that Del was her best friend when she was a kid. I get why she didn't say anything when she was still a child herself, but I really hope we get it answered for us why she was so committed to this lie once she became an adult. What's the point? This isn't a complaint of the book, I'm just puzzled.
