Hi Abe, I like the book and how the author brings forward the argument. People could find the style of his writing dry. Since my hobby is Ancient History, my main focus is the line of arguments, this is of minor concern. The first half of the books describes the world of the late Bronze age and archeological methods.
Many topics, however, have the style of an excursus and are (in my opinion) filler that do not belong to the line of arguments of this book, such as the discussion of the murder of Ramses III and the death of King Tut, or the Trojan War and the Exodus.
The author maybe included these things to keep up the inetrest of the reader.
Still it is a good book which shed light onto this topic from the archeological perspective, and which discuss older hypotheses on this topic. At the end of his book the authors also discusses new approaches, such as complexity theory and system collapse.
Enjoy it.
Cheers
David
