it is a bummer but also usually a sign that I don't love the book - the ones I start and fall in love with I usually find a way to finish by the due date or just pay the overdue fines
Thus I have never finished Girl with a Dragon Tattoo--or the African hospital one I can't even remember the name of. Egad. I've been known to keep things an extra day or two and just pay up too ;)
Yes, I haven't even bothered with the Steig Lars. trilogy - I know people love it, but for whatever reason I am not that psyched - I got the first one way before the hype and could not get into it.I think the African hospital one you are thinking of is Cutting for Stone. I did enjoy that one but someone gave me a copy to borrow so I did not have the library pressure!
