There’s an interesting sidebar chapter in which Kennedy and Johnson were compared. What I found to be very interesting revealed there was the fact that while both men had a fair amount of machismo, It was Johnson who had a constant need to prove himself. Kennedy had already proven himself in war while Johnson had not.
