The language is too boorish to keep me interested. The book reads more like "here are some gory murders. Here are the facts."

I believe the point that the author is trying to make is that the definition of homicide and murder have changed over the course of history.

Better to spend time reading more interesting works satisfy my curiosity rather than slog along with uninspiring prose.
