I figured I would be primed to read some example of older SF right after finishing the graphic novel called The History of Science Fiction, and that is the case. But the author I've had in mind for days - D. G. Compton - is perhaps one of the few "semi-major" authors from his era who doesn't get mentioned in the graphic novel! Oh, well. George Allan England's The Vacant World soon, but Compton for now.
