A secret room is found in the library of the old mansion. The door to the room opens when a book is moved on a shelf. (I always wanted to have a room like this.) Looks like there's more than one mystery within this story.

Nothing bad popped out in the book, just another mystery to solve, lol.

Stand alone. I think he wrote a series about a gentleman thief, didn't he? This follows a woman through the murder of her first husband, her trial and acquittal, and marriage of convenience to a mysterious gentleman (who has his own hidden past). It actually reminds me of those old gothic mysteries Victoria Holt wrote. It's good, so far.
Raffles is all that I knew of this author. Might be worth looking into his other work. This sounds good.
