The book leans heavily on Western Civilization, but then written by an Englishman it makes sense. We tend to see through the lens of Western Civilization which for centuries remained rather influential overall. The events are a mixed bunch, so there are the spectacular dates along with the more subtle -- such as Isaac Newton's matriculation at Cambridge.

A great jumping off point for those interested in history.

So far, this book is interesting. The writing is a bit dry, but the events it discuss are all dealt with briefly enough that it doesn't become too bad. In fact, Williams does a decent job explaining the events he lists, and how each vastly changed the world afterwards.
