A few things to note halfway through the book:
Lawrence was well traveled along with his education. Was very culturally literate to his locations, as well as spent a lot of time on reflection and conducting map studies prior to performing his own reconnaissance work. Let us not forget his language abilities.

I will also add, Lawrence had no formal military training, which most likely worked to his advantage during Arab Revolt. This allowed him to think outside the box.

I absolutely love history books, including biographies, which place things in context. Thus far, this author is doing a fantastic job.
