A Romance in Encyclopedia Land was the funniest article I have read in a long time.

Benchley is a brilliant humorist. “Call for Mr. Kenworthy” was droll, cheeky, and absolutely perfect.

“The Community Masque as a Substitute for War” had some truly funny lines, but overall was so dated in its references and in-jokes, I had a hard time following along.

Benchley’s essay on roast beef was hilarious. He is a such a talented humorist.

Derby hat jokes aside, Benchley’s observations on business are as modern as woke capitalism.

Sublime and wry.

Is it too early to have a favorite essay? “When Genius Remained Your Humble Servant” was brilliant. I should like to print it out on vellum, frame it ornately, and hang it in my study.

“Coffee, Megg, and Ilk” gave me a few smiles.
