I am nearing the end but I have these main thoughts:
- overall plot is easy to understand. Arranged marriage. Impending war. The feelings are there.
- the details? Baffling. Incomprehensible. This felt like reading a spinoff of a main show I never watched. Lore dumping by the tons.
- god please get this book an editor
- awful unfun miscommunication tropes
- BUT?? SOMEHOW? I WAS INTRIGUED ALL THE WAY?? Ok.
