"A hulking mountain of a man in plate armour shaped from some
strange jade stood blocking the way, sword held point down,
gauntleted hands resting on the pommel.
Eyes the colour of his armour studied me through the visor’s
narrow slit. “Master.”
I remembered. A manifestation demon called from some war-torn world and clothed in demonic armour rivalling the emperor’s
own,..."

"My chest hurt. My heart, clenched like a fist, felt like it might
shatter.
Burn me alive. Cook the meat of my brain with the stone eyes
of a god. Carve away the last of my humanity and lay bare the
nerves for plucking like the overtight strings of a lute. It paled in
comparison to the loss and betrayal of my love.
I wanted to smother her in the darkness she most feared,
reduce her to nothing."

"The armies of five conquered worlds stood awaiting the
command to march. No chance of betrayal, they were bound
demons. Hulking monsters all claw and shaggy fur. Massive reptilian
horrors, a hive of writhing eyeless tentacles, armoured in their own
sick brand of sorcery. Nightmares torn from the depths of insanity.
From horizon to horizon my reality-scarring host prepared to go to
war."

This series is fast turning out to be one of my best fantasy books! (A bit dark for some readers though).
"I remembered how to call demons from a reality that had been
in a state of perpetual war for millions of years. I once had entire
battalions of the creatures at my beck and call. Unparalleled
warriors, they were unbelievably fast and difficult to kill."
