Probably the book I was most excited to read in 2022, but slow-going because Hathaway is a modern metaphysical poet--the poems demand to be read several times and I also run off chasing reference after reference. Luke's work is returning me to my love of Robert Lowell & Elizabeth Bishop, reminding me of all the Auden & Wiman I still have to read, and utterly delighting me with traces of Donne, Herbert, & Julian of N.
