This is being finished out of spite. The author’s research in authenticity for the military is laughably bad. He has no idea what proper terms to use (e.g. the officers Enlist, which is inaccurate; officers commission) and his rank structure is completely off (e.g. “General” is before “Admiral;” neither rank is affiliated in the same service.)
And lastly, to use pop culture, his characters are Tamarians.

The is sophomoric at best; teenage wish fulfillment where the loner is good at the one thing humanity needs, and, oh, he finds his true love along the way! He’s also totally better than her at their common interests, but maybe he’ll look over that fact for unrequited love…?
I’m going to finish reading this, but I want to punch the character in the jaw, but if I did, I might face the wrath of his Zach Attack!

This is laughably bad; I understand that the author has a love affair with popular culture, but his habitual use of reference is used to make up for the fact he’s not an imaginative writer.
This feels like fanfiction written by an aspiring writer who is conflicted with the plights of their puberty and socially awkward phase. This becomes equally ridiculous when I realized he wrote this in his 40s.
