One of the most incredible and illuminating books I've ever read. Yet, heartbreaking at the same time.

This sounds fabulous, Cole, and I'm glad you like it so much! As soon as I'm in the right mood for this, I'll read it. Looking forward to your review. :)

This is going to be the hardest review that I've ever written, simply because it deserves to be done right, you know? I've been spending a lot of time reading and doing some background reading as well. I'm also asking Toby Johnson a few questions that I'll outline in the review. I must say that I have cried endless tears reading this, which will put some people off, but that if anyone reads a book this year that isn't a typical m/m HEA/HFN, then this should be it. I've had to push the review back three weeks in a row, just because I can't read this book quickly and I want to make sure to honor it. I don't see how anyone could not love this book, as long as they give it the time. It certainly is daunting, but so very, very worth the time :)
Wow. I don't need to read your review anymore. *lol* This sounds like I will love it while I'll be crying a river. ;) It's a shame I haven't read it yet, it's been in my TBR for so long already. I might avoid your review until after I've read this book because I can sometimes be anal about minimal spoilers. *lol* ;)
No worries :) I'm going to try really hard, but it makes it more difficult to leave out spoilers when part of the novel is historical fact and part is fiction. Thats mostly what I want to ask Toby about.
Yes, I understand. Don't try too hard, it's so difficult to avoid spoilers completely. And since I can choose to read the review later, there are no worries. ;) But I'm very curious about what the author will tell you. Great idea to ask him questions! :)
Yeah, I talked it over with Wave and we agreed that I should do whatever I can to treat the book with the respect it deserves, which goes without saying. But, I really felt like there were some things that might help illuminate the review, since this is a special case dealing with very real history. I just have to remember to reign myself in or wave will fInd a fanboy interview instead of a review!
