Well, my interest lasted longer than it did for Uneven (perhaps it was the second author's influence?), but ultimately, it don't think Crow's style of story-telling is for me. There is just something disjointed about the emotional development of the relationships. And the plot gets bogged down, boring.

The master wizard dude is an interesting juxtaposition: he's so ancient wise and powerful, and yet little vulnerabilities, like a description of his rope slipping so his collarbone was exposed unevenly, make me wish for his story; he seems like a hurt/comfort story.

Im having a difficult time following the conversations between the master wizard and the beast character, but I'm hoping it'll all be made clear later. Also, the old wizard's response to Beasty's manly posturing? "This isn’t the time for debating your testicular fortitude.”

Just inhaling this today! The world, scenery, people are all magnificent. I want to see more inside the "little bunny's" head--I like his timid, shy persona contrasted with the sure and gruff beasty guy. I hope Taniel, a devoted-to-books type, is in the second book!
