Actually if you think about it, this book is a comedy. What is an alternate explanation for Ungoliant going “give me thy treasures” and Morgoth is like “okay” and gives her everything in his left hand but then Ungoliant goes “you’re only giving me stuff from your left hand… what are you hiding in your right hand” and Morgoth, holding the Silmarils, is like “a smoothie”
