Desperate people doing increasingly desperate things. Incredibly tight syntax, razor-sharp prose. The scene I just read was unnerving and visceral and fucked up beyond all recognition. I'm taking my time with this—as much as I took my time with Sullivan's short story collection—and as much as I have a bad feeling that this story ends poorly for all involved, I'm still excited to read further.
