They've pretty much survived the first day and are, in their own ways, saying goodbye to the old world. The blinded people aren't doing too well at this point but I imagine some weird crap is going to take place soon enough.

The kid had noticed the smartness of sorts the triffids had, by not running on autopilot and observing them. Also, the farm group being totally surrounded by countless bloodthirsty triffids sounds nightmarish.

He found Josella alive and well. Then at some point found out that the religous freak compound had been wiped out by the weird disease. Maybe the Coker person will make yet another appearance despite how it looks like.

The main character moved on from the religious freaks' doomed camp and found a bunch of people with flamethrowers and such. Still no sign of the love interest.
