Necessary for me, because I am writing a trilogy set in ancient Egypt. I have a good number of reference books, and this one is on the top of the pile. My main character is Imhotep -- not the character in the MUMMY movies, but the real, historical Imhotep. He was a physician, astronomer, magician... & an architect. He designed the first true pyramid, the Step Pyramid at Saqqara, circa 2500 BC. It's still there.
