'There was no need to stay longer than necessary even if she was a fair young maiden.'

I walked silently behind a group of warriors and watched as they disappeared around a corner. I looked around and noticed a movement in the alley next to the butcher. Father’s men were putting themselves in a ready position. I had no sooner blinked my eyes when I heard an arrow whistle through the air. I swiftly turned and spotted one of Robin’s men tucked beside a building.

Right, so I have decided to make this book into a novelette which is about a 10,000 word book. I just don't have enough ideas to make it longer. I prefer writing shorter books anyway!
So since this will be shorter, I might be able to finish 1 or two other books I've been working on. We'll see!! ;)

“So tell me, what are ye afraid of?”
Apparently it was time for an interrogative session. “Nothing, I am sure.” I winked. “I am afraid of failing missions, because no one likes being a failure.”
The man nodded, then abruptly turned to a warrior beside him, leaving me to ponder what I would do once they arrived wherever we were headed. I must make a wise decision or I would end up ruining the entire plan.

“Sir?”
Quinlan nearly jumped out of his skin, then would have attacked if he had not recognized the voice of one of his warriors. “What are ye doing?” He took a deep breath and leaned back against the tree trunk.
“Forgive me. I noticed ye were up, and wanted to be sure ye were all right.”
“I am fine. Ye just nearly killed me with fright.”

“Maiden Melina.” I grimaced when she jumped in fright. “Forgive me for startling thee.”
She smiled nervously, fixing her skirts as I joined her. “What is a fine gentleman doing in the forest of all places?” She cocked her head at me as I crouched down beside her.
I took my hat off my head before answering. “I was target practicing. Now, what is a lonely maiden doing in the middle of the forest?”

I grabbed her arms, steadying her so she would not fall, as she let out a little welp. Without thinking, I pressed my gloved hand against her mouth. One more cry out like that and there would indeed be trouble for them all.
Her eyes widened slightly and I realized my hat had been pushed up, revealing my face. I swiftly corrected my stance - letting her go in the process - and adjusted the hat.

I carefully wrapped a set of arrows in a leather cloth, tied it securely and tucked in the saddle bag. I pushed another arrow set in the pouch on my shoulder that contained my longbow. They could walk into trouble before arriving at their destination - they had to be careful.
“Robin is ready.”
I looked up and nodded at Little John who had just finished preparing for the journey.

Something whistled sharply past my left ear and I ducked to miss contact. Celestial skidded to a halt and I jumped off his back, keeping myself low. I could hear twigs and branches breaking.. I held my breath, listening intently.
“Well, well, well.”
I jerked my head up and met eyes with a tall, brown-haired man leaning over the back of my horse.
