Is it just me or are most Black American published poets from the East Coast? Specifically, from the South or discussing the southern experience. mm. The poems I read in school always felt familiar in their description of the land, community, music, and culture. I never hear Black poets talk about deserts and plains out West. I’m curious for a Black perspective of that landscape. Where my n*z herding cattle?

Adi G I am maybe 2/5ths through this book and there’s one poem that caught my eye. Madhouse by Calvin C. Hernton. A poem about the delirium experienced via loneliness (at least that’s my interpretation). I always enjoy people trying to make sense of the grey in our black and white world. I looked him up and he’s actually from my hometown. kewl :P
