I have tried reading this latest iteration of The Songs of Zion twice before but gave up because of the author's tone. I am now in a better position to emphasise with his frustrations, as the modern church is content to sing literally anything besides the Psalms. (I have read an earlier edition of the book, for what it is worth.)
