I don't particularly like the kids that keep beating up Junior at school, but right now I don't like Junior's mother. His dog, Oscar is sick and needs medical attention. His mom says the dog will be fine and won't take him to the vet. Junior knows she's lying and is doing his best to take care of Oscar, but realizes that their family is poor and can't do much. The mother should have told Junior the real reason (pg10)
