I was skeptical as I started to read the book, and already in a few pages, I came to appreciate the author. Irvin Yalom draws on rich examples from his own practice.

Some takeaways thus far:

* work with now-and-here
* therapist must engage in "own therapy" alternatively will inevitably stumble upon own blindspots.
* working on self (for the therapist) is a continueus work and no one should be ashamed of it.
