Love this book, but I think we all could make it do without Helen's comment "she decided that if Lucas was gay, then she would have to get a sex change operation. He would be so worth it." and also the joke where she said "I'll tell him you abuse me." and Lucas' answer "And tell him you like it.
jokes about abuse aren't funny and the other comment may come across as transphobic... it just didn't age well I guess. .
