Discussion of the Cherokee region etc reminds me a lot about Southern country music. So that explains why this book felt something like country music.

Luke Great lakes is anishinaabe, plains is Lakota, southwest is like diné & zuñi... I still need to learn more

Regarding "Sisters in Spirit"

2022-0512-1822 turns out i was right because one of these white feminists was against racial inclusion in her activism. the cady one.
this is the book that was popular in my 2nd grade glass as an example of interracial solidarity of feminism

---
TLDR: including USA "patriotism" was probably included in order to appease censors at school libraries. God forbid we be radically thankful

"Sisters in Spirit" by Sally Roesch Wagner

Notes I took a couple of months ago upon finding out again

I might have prejudged my take on the feminism here of the Iroquois/Haudonsaunee women not consenting to be called women. However, this exotic wise native trope is a bit awkward, especially since they only showed white skinned feminists from a country that was adversarial to the Haudonsaunee.

Clan relative "serving our country", holy shit, Usamerica literally genocides indigenous peoples, yet... Ugh, I get identity struggles, but this was the same criticism I had about some book about feminism in 2nd grade that ended up platforming a white supremacist (voters of color exclusionary) feminist, like, ugh
