I should have known better--it's less about living a car-free life, and more about global warming. The author wants to go a whole year without using travel that increases his carbon footprint, yet he uses the Ferry system, buses, and has his wife drive the car to do grocery shopping. I get that walking, canoeing, and biking are fun, but how are you getting to work? How are you running errands?
