I've got to figure out how to use Irby's essay "Hung Up" as a mentor text for all my students who want to write about their phones as the item they love the most. I've tried a bazillion different ways to move them to other things ... kind of like moving them away from writing about their trip to Dorney Park whenever we prompt them to write about a strong but meaningful moment. Or but maybe I should EMBRACE?!
