I'm definitely more demi than this book and all its allos are probably meant for, but sheesh the sheer number of times sex is mentioned and either Delilah and Claire feel horny (even while sitting next to each other during dinner and a conversation that doesn't lend itself to sexy thoughts) is ridiculous. I'm far more willing to give leeway because these are two women, but my demisexuality is cringing.

“Goddammit, why do men have to suck so much?”
“Not all of them do,” Iris said.
“Most of them do,” Delilah said.
Iris tapped her chin in thought for a second, then blew out a breath. “Okay, yeah, you’re right. Most of them do. Thank fuck I’m bi.”

I know what the author is going for, but like. She makes such an effort to include enbies, and then just says this? Transmen are men too ffs.

The diversity could be woven in a little better (the constant mention of white people and enbies is a little rough) but I'm loving this so far.

tappkalina I'm also on the ace spectrum and just started to realize after almost 25 years that these random sexual thoughts and being horny from a glance in romance books are not exaggerations but people actually have/feel them.

Regina I do expect sex in most adult romances but the second half of the book has too many sex scenes IMO. The first two are hot, but later there are some just not neccessary, please focus on other matters. The erotic stuff has to come in certain dosages or too much makes it boring, and erotic and boring don't get along.
That aside, I didn't feel enough sparks in those small moments either though I wonder if it's a problem of the two POVs not sounding disctinct enough to feel with the specific character. Like, one would think the other is hot but I didn't realize I was in her head in the first place.

Yeah one thing about following allos on a place like tumblr is that you really get to realize how many people have thoughts like this on the regular. And being a writer of my own romance books, I've had to remind myself if a character IS allo that they need to have thoughts like that, however strange it is to me 😂

I minded the sex scenes later on in the book a little less simply because they weren't as long or as detailed as the first one at the midpoint sex scene. What bothered me more than anything was how often Delilah and Claire are thinking about how hot one another is during moments when that really shouldn't even be on the brain? But that's hardly this book's fault, since that's kinda part and parcel of romance books in general, and I'm certainly far more willing to accept it in this book because it's nice we get to see two women thinking this about one another.
