Okay, this is brilliant. Up there with "American Psycho" (which I should re-read at some point.) "Fight club" is like the opposite of "AP" but in so many ways shares similar themes. Kinda crazy that two very strong novels critiquing consumerism came out just a few years apart in the '90s. And they're probably both even more relevant now with the advent of online shopping and the state of the world.

So glad I decided to revisit this and annotate. It's way more complex than what I picked up on my first reading. Yes, this explores: patriarchy, anti-capitalism and anti-consumerism, terrorism, manhood in America and male friendship/bonding, banality of life, insomnia. But this time I'm picking up on homoerotcisim, internalized homophobia, and themes of anarchy. I'm not sure about the DID or just a case of alter ego
