It's been another lengthy stretch since I've cracked open a John Grisham. A conversation with one of my servers at Tavern United, Allie, renewed my interest and also led me to discovering John Hart. I was perusing Bookfair the other day and ran across this copy. This immediately struck me as an interesting standalone, a Southern Gothic, set in a time period rife with a plethora of challenges, both familiar & alien

Same here Mike. I do have a copy of this sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. He has a new book coming out on Oct. 18 titled The Boys From Biloxi that sounds really good.

The opening paragraph stands out and has certainly hooked me hard. Thanks for the heads up on his new one, Susan. I'll give that one a look for sure.
Mike, it may be longer since I read Grisham. I know I read one after The Painted Desert, but I'll need to look it up to say. Haven't heard much about The Reckoning, so I hope it's good (of course it's rare if fans don't enjoy each book he writes).
