Jackson looks up to the sky, not a cloud in sight as the full moon stares down at us. “Dammit, and I left the car window down.”
I laugh and I’m so happy for the stupid little joke. I reach out for him and he thinks I’m going for his hand until I grab his shirt and use it to wipe my eyes. “I didn’t want to get my shirt wet from all of this rain.”

“Huh,” Dad says before promptly going inside and shutting the door in our faces.
Leland starts laughing before looking over at my mom who’s glaring at the door. If superpowers were real, my mother would be melting the door down with her eyes alone.
