‘The guards, angry over Brandt’s seeming clumsiness & now frank appraisal of their lord’s daughter, attacked him, pushing & punching him as they tried to force him back to work. His laugh, full & loud & filled with a strange joy, sent chills through her.’ ….I love this guy. Mmmph. *fans self*

—Damn, but her words made him more curious than he wished to be! Anger. Impatience. Bitterness. All that & more flowed like a current under the words she spoke.

Well, it’s darker than the first one…at least that’s something. 👍🏻 The cover photo is totally wrong, tho. Brandt is older, covered with tats, & has long dark hair. This dude looks like he’s gotten lost en route to Miami Dolphins training camp.

Yup! We’re back to schmoopy vikings—because it’s the only other Sigurd brothers book I have, & I want to read it before I totally forget the backstory…or lose interest altogether, which is still a possibility, but hey. I’ll be nice & give it a try. 🙄 In any case, it’s good fodder for my 2022 Harlequin Clean-Up.
