I like to remind myself that there's 100 pages of notes, bibliography and index at the back of the book, so I'm actually over halfway through!

And finally, after calling herself Mary Ann Evans, then Marian Evans, and now Marian Evans Lewes, this unstoppable creative force turns her hand at writing fiction. Very soon, George Eliot will be known to the world and create quite a stir.

Plus I've read the last chapter and the epilogue, because I am out of control.
