Maybe because I was a year old when this was published, I can’t fully immerse myself in the idea of expat brits living subdued lifestyles being as something worth a scathing critique of. I’m very possibly wrong here but I struggled to get into this book and found the dissection of modern life that usually pops in Ballard’s work to be way more clunky and less lucid here. 🤷🏻‍♀️
