The prose is pretty meh so far, the characters are wonky, the stuff regurgitating out of Ellory’s mouth is pure cringe, and the scenes currently unfolding are reminiscent to that of a low effort teenage drama ala Wattpad style _:(´ཀ`」 ∠):

I don’t think I’ll be able to go any further than this right now, unfortunately. My brain is too battered by modules, and I need an all-rounder book to resuscitate it

The manner in which the book attempted to comprehensibly weave scenes, characters, and dialogue together was jarring in its dissimilitude from the enthralling fundamentals of its storyline. Although, strange as it is, this particular issue wasn’t prevalent in the prologue at all. The writing was passable enough, and even included a few similes here and there to spruce things up.
