I'm taking my time on my second read through. It's tempting to go straight through and enjoy its thrill—but I am restraining myself. Instead, I'm basking in prose whose quality made me fall in love with not just a book, but a genre. This is my favorite book for a reason: It's a treasure trove of ideas, descriptions, and themes; I'm doing my best to claim some of its jewels for myself without stripping it of mystery.
