The game resumed. The pitcher, a tall, lean, whip-thin youngster who delivered sidearm, checked his sign, stepped on the rubber, set, threw. There was a sharp, satisfying sound of bat and ball meeting, and Mays drifted over with the supreme grace that made his speed look slow and the ball came to him as though drawn there by a magnet.
