Very disappointed with this novel. As a history teacher in the past I enjoy novels that give historical detail with engaging and realistic characters. This novel piles on the cliches which spoils the narrative for me. I know a lot of people love Peter Watt's writing but I got tired of the "handsome" men and love interest with "luscious locks" - not a 21st century take on war to me.
