Idk im honestly just here for the plot but whatever Sarah J Maas was trying to do with this 3rd person expressive internal dialogue is not giving what is should be giving I just honestly am kind of dissapointed in this work. The plot line is keeping me here but the writing is most definitelt not the best

Its honestly still very intriguing, but my points from earlier still stand. It seems like a lazy plot, a lot of predicables, and a lot of stereotypes being played out. I wish some more thought had gone into the setting as well, it was not set as that era should have been.

Its a fun storyline, but I can definitely see the progress in Maas’s writing skills after reading the Crescent City series. Its a little cheesy, and I wish she had done some more research on 18th century dialogue to really properly immerse the reader.
