This book is stupidly ridiculous. Tense and character perspective changes occur, sometimes in the middle of a paragraph. For some reason the firing of the waiter gets a lot of attention. This is just poor storytelling. Where is the "amazing" book the reviews rave on and on about?

Still at 4%. Still have no clue what this book is about. The author has told me about how difficult Italian food is, that it had rained, and a bunch of other useless information, but not what a "date shark" actually is. Now said date shark is insisting that the waiter be fired because he was a typical snooty waiter at a fancy restaurant. What am I reading?!

She is confused by Italian food and doesn't know how valet parking works. Nothing else has happened so far. Why am I still reading. Where is the hook?

So far it's nothing but clunky writing. She did this, then she did that. She gets embarrassed when he holds out her dining chair for her, then embarrassed when her purse drops to the ground.
