VERY summarized. I like the author’s tendency to give modern examples of Hobbes’ arguments. But it seems…fragile. The “Peace” chapter is notably problematic, given some claims about the stability and safety of democracies that haven’t aged well in the 2000s-and-on. I’m curious how Missner would address the 2022 state of American politics when stating that Hobbes’ preference for monarchy is wrong.
