One of my very favorite writers has passed away.
He was a gifted writer, but his greater gift was focusing on the people, not events. The events of history are composed of people.
David McCullough loved America and Americans. He looked at people in the context of their time, never losing sight of their (or our) humanity.
In short, I loved him and his books.
Rest in peace, sir. You will be missed.
