Why do the book begin with what the characters are NOT doing? The first chapters are the introduction. Which means I know nothing. I only know what's not going on. Confusing.

Even if I wish for something to interupt all the never ending dinner partys and their endless discussions leading to nothing else but anger. Although I do understand and appreciate how that is important to this particular story.

The author is really good at portraying the war perspective out of two completely different characters. Many great (and sad) war qoutes. And while the story goes on the war is smoldering under the surface. Love it.
