'The Silver Cord' feels somehow out of time, a decadently rich theatrical affair that flirts with elements of Huysmans and Blackwood. Pointedly spooks for the observing thespian, the second Oliver collection I've read wears his influences on his sleeve as much as the first but nobody writes hauntings like him.
